At sea

Up early this morning, have no idea why, the sea is ridiculously calm considering we are moving into the Great Australian Bight.  Overcast this morning and looks like we were sailing into some stormy weather.  So I have to apologise to you because there will be no sunrise photos today.
After a walk and some breakfast we went and sat in the centre area and watched as the thunder, lightning, rain and rainbows put on a spectacular show.  I don't know how it works but the storm made no difference to the calm sea.
We have been asked a few times what could we possibly do on a ship during two days at sea (or even on a 16 day cruise?).  In the famous words of Betty O'Toole....only boring people get bored!!!   There are a stack of things to do, we tend to keep to ourselves a bit because as Pam says,'Vernon doesn't play well with others'.  Sounds like a school teacher I know!!
Pam will do a crossword or two, she tries to keep up with her games against people over the internet but the connection is so agonisingly slow it often shuts her down before she can get a chance to play, she doesn't mind though....much.  I've read a couple of books and try to catch up on the news on the internet, between pages loading we get to watch the ocean sliding by...very hypnotic.  I spend an hour or so on the blog to make sure it's perfect!!  Pam spent about 20 seconds researching her footy tips for last weekend, she is beside herself getting 7 out of 8 and is on top of the ladder, haven't heard the end of it and you'll all hear about it for the whole season!

Missed the seminar – ‘Go home looking 10 years younger’.  Not sure if looking 80 then go home looking 70 would make THAT big a difference to some of these people?  Also missed the watercolour painting class and the art auction. I suggested Pam could have attended the art class then sell her painting at the auction to pay for the trip….then again……..maybe not.
We also missed Origami lessons, Bridge playing for beginners, morning trivia, lunchtime trivia, 70s trivia, afternoon trivia, rapid fire trivia, happy hour trivia, movie trivia, Frank Sinatra trivia.  Also missed the seminar on beating addiction…lesson one…trivia.   Couldn’t get to the vegetable carving class, learn to ‘Thriller Dance’, Ballroom dancing, art enrichment class, mini golf tournament, ballroom dancing lessons, bingo and the list goes on.   We really want to get to the casino at least once and it's looking good for the beer tasting. Busy life at sea!!!!

Almost a rainbow because we couldn't find a sunrise/sunset!!

  1. We were never bored. Couldn't tell what we did though. It was a great time. Love Tim and Linda.

  3. What a trivial blog! Obviously it's being near all that trivia - it infiltrates without you noticing. I would have thought theta the Heat Australia Bight would be really rough, maybe it is saving it all up for when you round the tip at Cape Leeuwin! Or it's spelt something like that - don't focus on my spelling, be impressed by my geographical knowledge!

  4. We have managed to avoid all the trivia so far, but you are right, it's like a brain-worm, it gets in and not sure if it's going to get out, I'm sure we will recover quickly. We are impressed with you geographical knowledge, we also think the seas may get bigger when we turn the corner and move from the Southern Ocean to the Indian Ocean. Thank Tim and Linda!!! We are the same, we seem to do things all day and before we know it, it's beer tasting time! Love Pam and Vernon
