Day at sea

Well we had a real bonus today, we get to sleep in AND we had to turn our clocks back so we got an extra hour during the night to sleep.  We have to put the clocks back another hour tonight as we get close to Melbourne.  We certainly needed the sleep in. It's been flat out for a few days and we plan to take it a bit easy for two days till we get back to Australia.
Woke up and the seas were a bit choppy, not a big swell but plenty of white horses.  Went for a walk at the gym without incident!!  Jump in the pool, I think someone must have filled it with ice overnight, it was freezing, certainly built up our appetite for breakfast.  Time then to catch up on emails, reading and a quiet coffee.

We had a leisurely lunch and then did a bit of reading till about 3pm.  I offered to get a coffee and saw some delicious looking scones with about an inch of cream and jam on top.  I knew Pam would fall in love with them so delivered the scones with the coffee.  Didn’t work out as well as I thought.   “No way” was the response, “You have to eat one of them, or both, I’m not having any.”  Of course we shared.  About 4.30 I decided to go for a walk at the gym, Pam joined me and we jumped on neighbouring walking machines (set at 6km/h!!!) and away we went.  I looked over and said (foolishly), “Can’t you feel that scone just lifting away from your hips?”
Didn’t get the response I was expecting…….”Yes, it is coming up out of my stomach up out of my mouth and ALL OVER YOU!!!”.  I set the machine to 12km/h to get away.  No chance, she stayed right on my shoulder no matter how fast I went…..she must be very fit!!!
We all survived and had a pre-dinner drink then it was formal night, got dressed up and went to tea.  Plans to go to the show at 8.30.  Tea extended past the deadline so we found ourselves heading back to our room for bed at 9pm.  Sadly we had to put our clocks back an hour again so it was really 8pm.  We were exhausted and ready for bed.

Lunch time view from the back of the ship, a little overcast but fairly flat seas.

The view from our cabin about 4pm....I'm sure I can see landfall at times in the distance, I feel like calling the captain but I figure he might know what he's doing.....

  1. I don't know why you are exhausted because all you seem to do is eat and drink! (10kgs of chocolate!) I can't believe you went back near the walking machines! Or that the machines even let you on them!
Bit of a sad day today. Frank Belinda and kids going - did you see the plane fly over? About 4pm this afternoon. Feels funny to have a family member so far away!. Love Trish - hey Broncos won yeah, but didn't get my tips in in time, damn behind the eight ball already xxx

  2. Trish and Gary, So...last years winner of the footy tipping is already one down...sounds terrible and we feel so badly for you!!! Hope your memory improves over the next few rounds, or not. We do seem to gravitate toward the eating and drinking on the cruise, trust me, that's not what it's all about....I think. Sad to see the Frank O'Tooles leaving the country, Pam has thought about it often but I've convinced her to stay, I must be mad too!!!! We didn't see the plane fly over, we were a little bit south of the flight plan I'd imagine, unless they were on flight MH370...shit...did I say that out loud???? Loving the cruise, see you soon, love Pam and Vernon

  4. That's alright Trish, you may have noticed every time I have won the footy tipping (and it's been a few) I always make sure everyone knows about it and make sure I remind them regularly. Only because I know they are really happy for me!!!! Thanks for the information about Frank, Belinda and Family, as you can imagine, communication on the ship is very ordinary. Love Pam and Vernon
